We know that for many of you, this week and last week might be taken up with preparations to reopen your business, so in this blog we’re sharing more help and resources for you to do so safely, in addition to other news updates.

The Scottish Government has published new guidance and checklists for the tourism and hospitality sector, retailers, and manufacturers to help them safely return to work:

CARES funding call – June 2020: As Scotland starts to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis, there is an opportunity to focus on a green recovery by aiding economic activity that puts tackling climate change and our ambition to reach net zero at the heart of everything we do. The support that CARES offers to rural businesses, communities and third sector organisations is an integral part of this green recovery. There are 2 types of funding available:

  • Development funding - to complete community engagement activities, feasibility work and options appraisals to develop new local energy projects.

  • Capital funding - for the capital costs of local energy projects.

CARES rural businesses and farms session, Friday 3 July 12pm – 12.30pm:

This session will outline considerations for those in control of farm scale enterprises looking to make a change in their energy use and carbon emissions. CPK Maker_Spaces offer 1 to 1 digital advice: The team at Culture Perth and Kinross Maker_Spaces are available for advice, tips and general help on projects that use digital technology, including Adobe Creative Suite and 3D printing. Whether your project is business, personal or creative; and regardless of your skill level the Maker_Space team are happy to chat to anyone working with digital technology. Board Vacancies at the Scottish National Investment Bank: Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint up to eight Non-Executive Directors to the Board of the Scottish National Investment Bank. The Non-Executive Directors will play a key role in the governance and setting up of the Scottish National Investment Bank. The Scottish Government’s vision for the Bank is that it be a cornerstone financial institution within Scotland’s economic architecture and is seeking to appoint a diverse, balanced Board with the skills, knowledge and experience to achieve this. Social Investment Scotland Briefings: SIS has come together with a range of lawyers, accountants, and social enterprise leaders to deliver ‘SIS Briefings: Restructures, Mergers and Routes to New Markets’. These sessions with be co-promoted in partnership with Social Shifters and they will be developed afterwards for on-demand use on their digital learning platform.
