Coronavirus Update: 7 August

In this blog post we are letting you know about some available resources, a selection of funding opportunities and other important news:


GrowBiz Website Resources: The GrowBiz website has been updated with new resource sheets and templates designed to help you achieve your business goals. Find guidance on making a business plan, improving your social media, making videos and podcasts, organising your finances and many more. All available to download for free here.


Scottish Enterprise Rural Leadership Programme: This programme is for rural leaders or key employees who have ambitions for the future of their business and recognise the need to change their business model, learn new skills, embrace digital technologies and a new way of working, and respond to their customers’ needs. Led by key experts in their field, it includes over 40 hours of virtual workshops, team tasks, group discussion and 1-to-1 coaching sessions over six months. Run from October 2020 to March 2021, there will be four regional groups, each with 10 participants.

People's Energy Covid Community Fund: This fund was set up to try to help members of People’s Energy in financial difficulty caused by Covid-19 and is now taking applications. You may be eligible for help if you received Universal Credit before the lockdown, have applied for Universal Credit recently or have applied to the government’s grant scheme for the self-employed. Hotel Recovery Programme: This programme will help to secure up to 3,000 jobs at Scotland’s larger hotels until the start of the summer 2021 tourism season. Eligible businesses can apply for individual grants of up to £250,000 in addition to a suite of wrap-around business support and advice. Find out more here.


Modern Apprenticeships with Perth and Kinross Council: Young people aged 16-24 can apply for opportunities in different occupational areas with Perth and Kinross Council. You can find current vacancies on MyJobScotland or find out more here.


Self-Catering Support Fund: Visit Scotland and the ASSC have announced a new fund to support self-catering businesses who have not been eligible for any other financial support, with £10k grants. The fund went live on Monday, 3rd August and closes on Monday, 10th August. It's available on a first come, first served basis. Find out more here.


Circus Artspace Liminal Lives Project: Liminal Lives is an opportunity to create your own postcard and be part of a Scotland-wide art project. Express your experiences of 2020 (e.g. of covid-19, lockdown, social distancing) or your perspective of current matters (e.g. social, political, personal, cultural) in a postcard format created using any medium. Submissions are welcome all over Scotland. Find out more here.

Museums Resilience and Recovery Fund: A new fund for independent museums and galleries will help bolster resilience following the coronavirus pandemic. It will be administered by Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) and will aid the return of staff from furlough and the wider reopening of museums and galleries. Find out more here.

Events Sector Support Fund: A funding package has been established to help the events sector recover from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, providing support to organisers of cultural, community, and sporting events, as well as to supply chain firms facing hardship, to help keep them in business while restrictions on events are still in place. It will also look to increase community engagement, and support adaptations to event delivery to enable a safe restart. Find out more here.
