As we pass the mid-October mark, the last two months of the year are steadily approaching — a particularly busy time of year for many rural businesses and communities, but also one full of possibilities. This blog post contains useful events and updates to help you be prepared and make the most of opportunities available in the final quarter of the year.


Community Halls Meeting

Perth & Kinross Green Capital Development Grant

Businesses in the area can apply for up to £25,000, covering up to 50% of eligible costs, to invest in capital projects that will improve their carbon footprint. These could include to implement new systems, new ways of working, new machinery, and investment in green technology. Find out more here.


Cairngorms Youth LAG Fund 

The fourth round of the Cairngorms Youth LAG Fund has just opened. Young people under the age of 30 can apply for up to £500. First priority goes to people who live within Cairngorms National Park, second to those who live nearby and work/study within the Park and third to those with a deep connection to the Cairngorms. Fund closes on the 4 November. Perthshire Talks Tourism — Insights, Opportunities and Trends

This in-person event will take place at Birnam Arts and Conference Centre on 31 October, 10.30 – 13.00. It promises to be a morning filled with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and inspiration for the tourism industry in Perthshire. Joining will be Lesley Whitehill, Senior Insight Tourism Manager at VisitScotland, and Steve MacDonald, Economic Development Manager at Perth & Kinross Council. Book your place here.


HIE Green Grant Fund

The Green Grant Fund from HIE is for businesses and social enterprises in the Highland Council area, which includes a large part of the the Cairngorms. The funding is a non-repayable grant of up to £250,000, which will cover between 10% and 40% of the total cost of a project that reduces the applicant’s carbon emissions. Find out more here.


Planning Your Marketing Content Strategy, Tuesday 19 November, 11:00 – 12:30

Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards

The Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards celebrates collaborations between business, third sector, and public sector organisations and academia. The 2025 awards are the largest yet, with 10 diverse categories to celebrate outstanding achievements in knowledge exchange. The deadline to apply is 5pm, Thursday 12th December 2024 and you can enter for multiple categories. Find out more here.
