Rural Enterprise Update: 25 May

There’s plenty happening in this blog, including some new funding and a number of events. So let’s get right into it:


New Micro Enterprise Fund: The Perth & Kinross Micro Enterprise Fund has been designed to support businesses that employ fewer than 10 people, whether they are just starting out or looking to grow. Awards of up to £1,000 can be made and the money can be used for a range of purposes. The grant can be used to cover up to 90% of eligible costs. There’s no closing date, but we recommend you apply as soon as possible, find out more here.


Scottish Enterprise Green Jobs Fund: Scottish Enterprise is set to launch the first of a series of grant funding calls to help support economic recovery and stimulate the creation of new green jobs. The fund will offer grants between £50,000 and £500,000 with support of between 10 per cent and 50 per cent of eligible project costs. The opening date is Thursday 27 May 2021. Find out more here.


Community Heritage Grant Fund: Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) has launched this fund to support community projects which conserve or enhance the historic environment of Perth and Kinross. PKHT is inviting applications for grants of up to £5,000 for projects which involve the conservation of historic buildings or monuments, or community-based recording, research and interpretation of the area’s historic environment. Virtual Meet The Buyer Event: The 12th Annual Meet the Buyer 2021 will take place as a live, virtual event on 8 June 2021 and will give suppliers unprecedented access to buyers and decision makers from across the Public and Private Sector, all from the comfort of your own screen. Meet the Buyer 2021 is aimed at all micro, small and medium size organisations from across Scotland. Find out more here.


Gather Around Local Food Event: Forth Environment Link’s 3rd annual Gather Around Local Food event, on 9 June, is now live for booking. Across the day there will be a chance to hear speakers, engage with live streams and join the Q&A. All sessions are online. This is a chance for the NeighbourFood network, and anyone interested in food, community and climate, to come together, learn and celebrate local food. Book your free places using the links below:


Start up 1: Planning and Preparing to Start Your Own Business: This first in a series of three webinars to help you plan and start your own business will help you understand the skills you need and the actions you need to take to start a business. 8 June 10:00 - 12:20. Marketing on Tap Campaign: This new campaign has been initiated by Marketing Society Scotland to support pubs, bars and restaurants across Scotland through free marketing and promotion advice, training and downloadable toolkits spanning social media, PR, influencer engagement and digital marketing. The campaign will run for a seven week period that began on 17 May. Find out more here.


Location Data Scotland and Traveltech for Scotland Webinar: Location Data Scotland will partner with Traveltech for Scotland to run a joint webinar: ‘Unlocking the Potential of Location Data for Travel and Tourism’ on Thursday 27 May from 10.30am - 12pm. Businesses attending this event will gain a clear understanding of what location data is and the opportunities it offers to their organisation, hear from tourism and leisure businesses who will share how they have used location data within their business to develop products and services and enhance the visitor experience and find out what support mechanisms are available through Location Data Scotland and Traveltech for Scotland to help get them started. XpoNorth 2021: XpoNorth 2021 will take place on Wednesday 16 – Thursday 17 June 2021. The 2021 programme is now live and can be found here. This year, XpoNorth is looking to enhance its offering by including digital trade stands. This will provide organisations the chance to highlight their work and network with our attendees.
